Lord of the Rings Drinking Game

Standard Lord of the Rings Drinking Game

To play the standard Lord of the Rings Drinking Game you simply take a sip of your drink when any of the following incidents occur:

  1. Someone speaks elvish. Elves whisper a lot. Tough to say why. Have a drink and think about it.
  2. Someone says “precious.” Of course you’ll hear it from Gollum, but he’s not the only one. He seems like a misunderstood creature. Could probably use some friends. Drink in solidarity.
  3. Gandalf puffs his pipe. Makes you wonder how much of that wizardry is all in his mind.
  4. Someone says “Baggins.” Drink to celebrate this legendary family of the shire.
  5. Someone helps Frodo on his quest. “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Who said it?
  6. Pippin and/or Merry do something mischievous, dangerous, or stupid. I know the fellowship is kind and all, but they really should have sent these two home.
  7. Sam calls someone Mr. ____ (e.g., Mr. Frodo). He is a well-mannered hobbit. Drink with your pinky up.
  8. You see the eye of Sauron. It sees everything, so follow the rules and drink up.
  9. Someone is tempted by the ring. With a couple exceptions, the group largely resists the temptation of the ring and puts altruism first. Drink to that!
  10. Frodo almost dies. There is more to this hobbit than meets the eye.
  11. Gandalf says something wise. Absorb his wisdom and drink up.
  12. The fellowship faces off against orcs. The orcs are many and angry, but they can’t hang with the fellowship. You can! Have a drink.
  13. Frodo gets on a boat. No orcs on the boat. Have a drink and relax while you can.
  14. Someone from the fellowship passes away. Drink in their honor!

Higher Frequency Lord of the Rings Drinking Game

The higher frequency game is the standard Lord of the Rings Drinking Game with a few additions. Take a sip of your drink when any of the incidents above or below occur:

  1. Someone says “Mordor.” They are not messing around when they talk about Mordor. Neither should you. Drink out of respect.
  2. You see a waterfall. If you want to get creative, waterfall for the waterfall instead of just taking a sip.
  3. You hear instrumental music. Wouldn’t be an epic tale without an epic score. Drink on your quest!
  4. Legolas kills someone without shooting them with an arrow. This guy is lethal with and without his bow. Drink and stay on his good side.
